Overnight M20 Closures – Junctions 9-11

M20 junctions 9 – 11

What’s happening?

A-one+ on behalf of Highways England will be carrying resurfacing to address the deficiencies, deterioration and wear of the surfacing between junctions 9 – 11 on the M20.

Traffic Management

In order to carry out these works efficiently and safely we will be closing the coast  bound carriageway overnight between 8pm – 6am week commencing 9 April between junctions 9 -11, week commencing 16 April between junctions 10 – 11 and the London bound carriageway week commencing 23 April between junctions 11-10

A fully signed diversion route will be in place.

We will be starting our works on Monday 9 April until Sunday 29 April and we will be undertaking 7 day working in order to complete these works in a timely manner.

Diversions- clearly signed diversions will be in place during all closures utilising local routes, suitable for all types of vehicles when full closures of the carriageway are in place.

M20 EB Diversion route:

M20 EB traffic approaching Junction 9 will be advised to take exit left onto the M20 EB exit slip and take 3rd exit at the Roundabout ahead onto the A20. The diverted traffic on the A20 will continue on taking 1st exit onto the A28. They will then take a left onto A28 Canterbury Road. Diverted traffic will continue on the A28 to the next roundabout where they will take the second exit onto the A2070, which they will follow east to the M20 Jct 10 roundabout. Here they will take the 1st exit onto the A20 Hythe Road and continue along here following Ashford Road, Barrow Hill, and back onto Ashford Road which they will follow until the junction with A261. At this junction they will turn left onto the A20 Stone Street and continue north to re-join the M20 at junction 11.

M20 EB HGV Diversion route:

M20 EB traffic approaching Junction 9 will be advised to take exit left onto the M20 EB exit slip and take 3rd exit at the Roundabout ahead onto the A20 Fougeres Way. The diverted traffic on the A20 will continue on taking 1st exit at Drovers roundabout onto the A28 Simone Well Ave. They will then take a left onto A28 Canterbury Road. Diverted traffic will continue on the A28 Canterbury Road onto A28 Ashford Road. They will then turn right at the junction with the A252, staying on the A28 towards Canterbury. Diverted traffic will take the first exit at Milton Manor Roundabout and continue on to take a right, joining the A2 eastbound at Wincheap. They will continue east on the A2 Dover Road, taking the second exit at Whitfield Roundabout, and continuing on to take the second exit at Duke of York roundabout onto Jubilee Way. They will then travel south to take the first exit at the roundabout joining the A20. The A20 will be followed, taking the 3rd exit at Limekiln roundabout and the 1st exit at Archcliffe roundabout, and continuing on the A20 towards London to re-join the M20 at Junction 13 WB on slip.

M20 WB Diversion route:

M20 WB traffic approaching Junction 11 will be advised to take exit left onto the M20 WB exit slip and take the 1st exit onto the A20. Take the 1st exit at the next roundabout to continue onto the A20 until they reach the junction with the A251 where they will turn left onto the A20. Follow this along through A20 Barrow Hill and onto A20 Hythe Road. Head East until they reach M20 Junction 10 where they will take the 4th exit on the roundabout to join A2070. Continue west and take the 1st exit at the roundabout onto A28 Canterbury Road. Follow the A28 West turning right and the next junction. At the roundabout take the 4th exit onto A20 and head north, taking the 1st exit onto the M20 Jct 9 WB on-slip.

M20 WB HGV Diversion route:

M20 WB traffic approaching Junction 11 will be advised to take exit left onto the M20 WB exit slip and take the 4th exit onto M20 EB carriageway. Continue on and take exit left at M20 Junction 13 WB exit slip onto the A20 towards Dover. Continue on the A20 taking the second exits at Archcliffe and Limekiln roundabouts. Continue on to take the 2nd exit at Jubilee roundabout onto A2 Jubilee Way. Traffic will then head north on the A2 taking the second exit at Duke of York roundabout and continuing on to take the 3rd exit at Whitfield roundabout. Follow the A2 Dover Road to exit left onto the A28 at Wincheap. Follow the A28 Thanington/Ashford Road, taking the 3rd exit at Milton Manor roundabout. Continue on the A28, turning left at the A252 junction, to continue on the A28 Ashford Road. Continue on to A28 Canterbury Road, taking the first exit at the next roundabout. Traffic will continue on the A28, traveling over the M20 and turning left onto A28 Simone Well Ave. Take the 4th exit at Drovers roundabout to join the A20 Fougeres Way. They can then take the first exit at the M20 junction 9 roundabout to merge onto the M20 WB on-slip.
